civilitude story

Civilitude was founded in 2010 when Fayez left a secure job out of a dissatisfaction with the way civil engineering was practiced in Austin. Nhat soon joined Fayez because they thought the human side of engineering was being neglected; that more personal and responsive customer service could be combined with creativity and tenacious advocacy to form true partnerships with clients where both parties were invested in the success of projects. The result has been sustained growth, a stellar track record, and a loyal customer base.

2020 is landmark year for Civilitude. It marks 10 years of being in business. 10 years of providing broader perspectives, fresh insights and forward thinking. 10 years of delivering landmark civil engineering projects. 10 years of shaping the city of Austin. And we look forward to the next 10.

Our Genesis

Civilitude began with the core ability to deliver technical capabilities in a time-bound manner – probably the most critical element in land development projects. This desire shaped our early days and remains the north star of our business. Our pursuit of getting things done right, reason for tenacity and drive for sustainable growth has been relentless. We started off with K-12 schools and affordable housing projects – and now have a healthy mix of public and private businesses.

As Civilitude grows, we are focussed on expanding beyond just singular projects, services and individual team members to strategies, processes and holistic growth. We think, plan, strategize, execute, benchmark, improve and repeat. Pushing ourselves to perform better each time. Our intense focus on structured growth improves efficiency, enhances capabilities, brings forth market and positioning awareness, and builds the core of the brand.

Our Focus

Our Team

We believe the firm grows organically when the team adds value consistently. Which is why our team members constantly challenge themselves to raise the bar with each project. Our diverse and incredibly talented team aspires to defy the status quo, while maintaining the focus on technical know-how – to deliver exactly when our clients need us. Each of us assume responsibility for our projects to succeed and lead with tenacity – something found in abundance at Civilitude.

The Civilitude team members are deeply invested in the greater Austin community. Our company was born here, and is part of its fabric. Civilitude principals have served on numerous city commissions and non-profit boards, and volunteer and teach. As community members, we advocate for policies and programs that will ensure that Austin’s growth is sustainable and equitable. As frequent builders of affordable housing, we are mindful of those who have been left behind in Austin’s prosperity, and strive to build homes and places that will be assets to our community for decades to come. We are determined to do our part to leave Austin better than we found it.

Clients & partners

For over 10 years now, we have built formidable relationships with some of the best-known firms in Austin. A testimony to this is the fact that nearly 80% of our clients are repeat customers. Which means, once clients work with us, they love to keep coming back again!

Civilitude quickly and efficiently solves problems and design solutions. They have a unique ability to successfully manoeuvre through the various city approval processes and requirements to secure the approvals necessary for projects to move forward.

Srinath Kasturi, Vice President and General Manager, Cadence McShane Construction

I am really grateful to Civilitude. They care about our mission to create affordable housing and it shows. They have the hand-on approach and talent to get our projects done on time and at a reasonable cost. They know how to navigate the municipal bureaucracy and keep a project moving.

Walter Moreau, Executive Director, Foundation Communities

Civilitude was a huge benefit to our project. We engaged a much more prominent firm and they were stuck in the mud and jeopardizing our ability to actually build our project. Civilitude came to the rescue and got us over the finish line. I’m indebted to them and want to use them on everything going forward.

Cross Moceri, Co-CEO, Presidium Group
Civilitude is always thinking three steps ahead. They are problem solvers and good at mitigating risk. They are very strategic and understand the rules of the city so well that they can anticipate what’s going to happen next after every action taken, saving their clients’ time and money.
Lew Goldstein, Data Analytic Architect, General Motors

I have worked with Civilitude for 4 years. I first met them at Round Rock ISD and was impressed with their energy and ability to identify one of our pressing needs. Civilitude brought the same amount of attention and detail to every project we gave them.

Tim Strucely, School Construction Leader, Dallas ISD

Civilitude really understands the civil engineering issues and city requirements that impact AISD’s construction projects. They are thorough and responsive. They represent our interests extremely well during the approval process and the get the job done.
