Four New Members Join the Civilitude Team
We are once again welcoming four additions to our Civilitude office! Over the last few months, we have had four new employees that we would like to introduce.
Tomas Rodriguez, a San Antonio native, is our newest team member who serves as a project manager. Tomas brings years of experience to our office as he earned two degrees from the University of Texas: a Spanish degree and a master’s degree in Architectural Engineering. Before formally starting at Civilitude, Tomas worked with the City of Austin, did consulting for our team and co-taught a UT CAD class for five years with our founder, Fayez Kazi. “I like the opportunity to work on multiple, different and varied projects,” Tomas said when asked about what he looks forward to most while on the job. Outside of work, you may find Tomas watching, playing and coaching sports. He also keeps up his skills in different graphics programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, CAD and others.
Joining us from El Paso, Texas, Jazmin Velasquez is our second newest employee serving as a marketing and administrative assistant. Jazmin graduated from St. Edward’s University in December 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Writing and Rhetoric. The vast variety of work and the great opportunity to learn and grow from the job are Jazmin’s favorite parts about joining Civilitude. When sunny weather permits, Jazmin enjoys going kayaking or spending time with her German Shepard, Archer.
Jordan Miller, a lead civil engineer, joined Civilitude this past February in the midst of the Texas snowstorm. Jordan’s work focuses on land development where he does “a little bit of everything” which includes, research, design and project permitting. He is most excited for working on local development projects. For Jordan, he views Civilitude as a “home to a lot of people who think outside the box,” and as a “company poised for growth” that he is excited to grow along with. On the weekends, you may find Jordan relaxing around Austin’s creeks or playing fetch with his black lab, Monse.
Lastly, our earliest hire of 2021 was Dane Edwards, our design manager/lead designer. Dane’s hometown is Jersey Village, Texas, and he graduated from UT with a dual degree in English and Anthropology. After some time working in education, archaeology, construction and healthcare, Dane found his fit when he enrolled in a drafting course at Austin Community College. From there on, Dane’s work now focuses on delivering plans for development projects across the region, improving Civilitude’s internal CAD processes and developing scalable CAD programming. Outside of work, Dane is usually on daddy duty by caring for his 6-month-old, but he’ll also often work outside, make music and catch up with old friends by playing video games.
We’re extremely excited for the opportunities that come from our new hires. We look forward to what else is in store for Civilitude as 2021 continues!
