Capital A Housing Begins Negotiations for New Community Development
City council recently approved the proposal to develop a 5.5 acre site in North Austin by Ben Barlin of 3423 Holdings, a developer with whom Conor Kenny and Aisling O’Reilly of Civilitude’s sister company, Capital A Housing, worked closely with through the planning process for the site. The site will come to be known as Crestview Village, residing directly off of North Lamar and south of Highway 183. Although negotiations are just beginning, the plan is to include commercial space, affordable housing options, outdoor recreational space, and community services, thanks to the hard work and coordination of Capital A Housing and 3423 Holdings.
This is an exciting win for the Capital A Housing team, as the site will provide 344 new units to the surrounding community — 34 of which will be set aside for people experiencing homelessness. There will also be some units available under market-rate prices for those who qualify. In Conor’s dream for the development, the residents of Crestview Village will have easy access to public transportation, a child care center, a bodega, a healthcare clinic, and so much more. In addition, Conor and the entire team planning this development are proposing that the city include an additional 5.5 acres surrounding the site, making it an 11 acre site that could provide more residential and recreational space for the community.
