Civilitude’s Impact on Texas Schools

Civilitude Engineers and Planners specialize in K through 12 site design and permitting. The one thing that you can count on is the integrity of our permitting schedule. We know how important it is to have the school ready by August, that’s why we prioritize accurate schedules and ensure that we are staying on track through the permitting process. We want students and staff to enjoy their new learning environment at the start of the school year!

One of our latest school projects is a K-8 school in Manor ISD. The campus will support 900 Elementary and Middle School students with a running track and athletic fields across 40 acres. The project development team reached out to Civilitude in August of 2021 and asked for the site design and permitting to be completed within a seven month timeline. The school needs to be complete and ready for the community by August 2023. We are happy to report that construction is underway and permitting is nearly wrapped up! This was a complicated permitting and design process that included the following scopes:

Jordan Miller has been focused on Manor K-8 these past several months as our design team’s Lead Engineer.

“I like to work on school projects in particular because my mom was a teacher. What teachers do is really cool and I believe they should be appreciated more. My mom taught mostly in Thrall ISD but there was a year or two where she did teach in Manor, so it’s awesome I can give back by helping create good facilities for students and teachers in that area like she did.”

Civilitude has provided civil engineering and peer review services for over 160 schools. We are also the sole trusted designer attached to the (2017) AISD billion dollar bond for three fantastic new schools: Eastside High School, Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders and LASA.

One of our most recent school openings was the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders. The new 123,686 sq. ft. school was built within three months of the initial application through a creative pursuit and constructed just 10 feet away from ongoing operations. The 12 acre site got a head start as was permitted demolition and selective construction prior to the full construction start date. Civilitude also applied our niche knowledge of synthetic tracks and artificial turf systems to achieve the best drainage and water quality design.

Our knowledge of track and field design has been essential to schools outside of Austin as well.. Dragon Stadium, located within the Round Rock High School campus, is the district’s competition hub. Civilitude provided accelerated permitting and construction documents to design the new competition synthetic running track surface and artificial turf system – all complete within the summer schedule. The project scope also included flood mitigation, utility improvements and the relocation of field events.

Civilitude Engineers and Planners was founded with an underlying emphasis on giving back to the community we hold so dear. We’re proud to have a team of top notch engineers and planners that carry this same passion. As Texas continues to see record growth, we anticipate more school projects in the Central Texas region and beyond!
