Interns Reflect on Summer at Civilitude
As summer officially comes to a close, we wanted to take a moment to talk about our amazing summer 2021 interns and all that they brought to our office! We had 5 interns here with us explicitly for the summer, and we couldn’t be more happy with our few months with them. Although we are pretty ecstatic about the temperature dropping, we will miss the summer energy and their bright and energetic personalities!
Gabby Archer, a current student studying Architectural Engineering and Architecture at UT Austin, started out her internship by working on schematic designs for projects in the planning stages, coordinating with different entities to edit and revise project drawings, and lots of other tasks where she said she was given “a lot of creative agency.” And that’s what we’re all about!
We also had Jibraan Zobairi from the Pratt Institute School of Architecture, who participated in many different projects in different capacities. Studying both architecture and construction management, he was able to utilize both areas of knowledge to help design project sites, conduct due diligence for a site of 300,000 square feet, and establish relationships with city officials to help streamline the development process. He also dipped into the marketing side of things here by cultivating a stronger social media presence for Capital A Housing and helped out with some Tik Toks for Civilitude!
Olivia Pineda and Jacob Tobey saw a little bit more of the civil engineering side during their time here, working with Mike Reyes on things like site plan applications, feasibility reports, and traffic control plans. They also got to go on site visits with other members of our team to better understand some of the work we do on drainage and sidewalk projects.
Last but not least, Farris Soboh got to see more of the construction side of things over at our sister company Constructinople. He helped out tremendously with overseeing all of our supply orders for our various projects, as well as managing construction sites along with principal Eyad Kasemi.
The whole purpose of our internship program is to not only receive help and provide experiences for future engineers, but to bring in more ideas and opinions into our workplace. We value each intern so highly and they all have contributed greatly to our success. If you are interested in applying for an internship at Civilitude or one of our sister companies, feel free to contact [email protected] for more information. We look forward to hearing from you! And while you’re at it, check out our new Youtube video here to hear more from the 2021 summer interns!
